VIDEO: Minister Criticizes Delays During Surprise Visit to Passport Office

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo criticized severe delays during an unannounced visit to a passport office in Abuja on Tuesday.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the slow service and warned officials against charging applicants extra fees. “Nigerians have paid for their passports completely. Serve them diligently,” he stated.

 

Questioning the inefficient workflow, he stressed that “time is money” and told staff their uniform represents a “uniform of sacrifice” to the public.

 

Officers attributed part of the delay to a late power restoration. The minister rejected the inefficiency as unacceptable, stressing that “time is money.” He also urged better use of available space to reduce congestion and reminded staff of their duty to the public, saying, “When you wear this uniform, you wear a uniform of sacrifice.”
