Skepta Calls on Global Community to Speak Up Against Injustice in Nigeria

British-Nigerian rapper Skepta has appealed to the international community to lend its voice against what he described as persistent injustice in Nigeria.

The musician made the call in a video message that circulated widely on social media on Thursday.

In the clip, Skepta recalled his participation in the End SARS protests and said a recent photo memory on his phone brought back thoughts of the demonstrations and the issues that ignited them.

He noted that despite the passage of time, injustice remains widespread across the country.

The rapper stated that he consistently speaks out against wrongdoing through his music, stage performances, and visual messaging, and will continue to do so whenever possible.

Skepta also pointed out that Nigerians are quick to advocate for victims of humanitarian crises in other nations, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran, and Cuba. He appealed for the same solidarity to be extended to Nigeria.

He acknowledged the resilience of Nigerians but stressed that resilience should not be a reason for the world to stay silent. He urged people everywhere to help amplify the call for justice in the country.

The video, which lasted about one minute, was not posted on the rapper’s official social media accounts but was widely reposted by entertainment platforms in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Skepta, whose full name is Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., has consistently celebrated his Nigerian heritage throughout his career. His latest remarks come amid growing public discussion on governance, accountability, and economic hardship in the country.
