Tambuwal Calls for Stronger Security Measures in Sokoto Communities
Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has urged the Federal Government to strengthen security operations in communities facing persistent attacks across parts of Sokoto State.
Tambuwal made the appeal during a meeting with the Minister of Defence, alongside the member representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, Abdussamad Dasuki. The discussions focused on growing security concerns in Kebbe Local Government Area and the Kaya community in Tambuwal Local Government Area.
The delegation called for increased security presence, improved operational support and additional resources to address the challenges affecting residents and restore peace in vulnerable communities.
According to Tambuwal, residents in several affected areas continue to face threats that have disrupted farming, business activities and daily life. He stressed the need for sustained security operations to protect lives and property while enabling communities to return to normal economic activities.
The lawmaker said the Federal Government had been urged to intensify efforts against armed groups responsible for attacks and displacement in parts of the state.
In response, the Minister of Defence reportedly assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to improving security and pledged additional support for ongoing operations in affected communities.
Tambuwal welcomed the assurances and expressed hope that the promised measures would be implemented swiftly to improve safety and stability in the region.
The call comes amid renewed security concerns in parts of Sokoto State, where several communities have experienced attacks, loss of lives and displacement of residents. The situation has also affected agricultural activities, with many farmers abandoning their farmlands due to insecurity.
Tambuwal reaffirmed his commitment to engaging relevant authorities and supporting efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and security across affected communities.
