Police Rescue 75 Kidnapped Travellers in Kaduna Forest Operation

The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 75 travellers who were abducted by armed kidnappers in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, comprising men, women, and children, were reportedly travelling in commercial buses when gunmen intercepted them near Folwaya Village and forcefully took them into a nearby forest.

According to police authorities, the rescue operation was launched after security operatives received credible intelligence from transport union officials in the area. Acting on the information, a tactical team was immediately deployed to track the abductors and locate the victims.

The kidnappers were said to have hidden the travellers inside a cave in a mountainous forest location. However, upon sighting the approaching security personnel, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning their captives.

All 75 victims were successfully rescued without injuries and reunited with safety officials for further assistance.

The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State commended the transport workers who provided timely information that aided the operation. He also praised the officers involved for their swift response and professionalism.

Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and continue sharing useful information with security agencies to help combat kidnapping and other criminal activities. The police also advised members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing the importance of cooperating with lawful security efforts.

Birnin Gwari has remained one of the areas most affected by banditry and kidnapping in Kaduna State, with attacks on travellers and rural communities posing ongoing security challenges. Authorities say continued collaboration between residents and security agencies remains critical to improving safety across the region.
