Amaechi Sweeps ADC Presidential Primary in Bayelsa
Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has secured a landslide victory in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary held in Bayelsa State, outpacing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Figures released by the party on Tuesday show Amaechi garnered 44,404 votes, leaving Atiku a distant second with 6,570 votes. Hayatu-Deen trailed with 939 votes.
The Bayelsa contest is one of several state-level primaries the ADC is conducting to select its flag bearer for the 2027 general election. While the party has yet to announce complete national results, early returns indicate Atiku is maintaining a lead across a number of states as voting continues nationwide.
