Angry Youths Burn Down Kano LG Chair’s Office Over Insecurity
Angry youths protesting incessant bandit attacks have set ablaze the office of the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to Daily Trust, bandits attacked Lakwaya village in Gwarzo, killing two people and injuring several others, on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community on more than 30 motorcycles, opening fire indiscriminately, causing panic.
Tension escalated, on Sunday, when the protesting youths stormed the local government secretariat, vandalized property and set the office of the chairman on fire
Ismail Aliyu Gwarzo, a resident, told the publication that the protesters took to the streets to express frustration over persistent security challenges affecting the community.
“Villagers trekked about twenty kilometers to the local government secretariat to protest the rising insecurity in their communities,” he said.
“They vandalized property and set ablaze a section of the secretariat. The incident caused panic among people, who ran for their lives.”
