EXCO Suspends APC Chairman In Jalingo

The executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jalingo, has suspended it’s chairman, Alhaji Bashir Bakari.

This came on Sunday in Jalingo after a vote of no confidence was passed on him.

The suspension, which was contained in a statement read and made available to newsmen, said the action has become necessary following the activities of the chairman which the executive believed is detrimental to the party.

According to the party’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the council, Mohammed Dahiru, “it has become evidently clear that Bashir Bakari activities and actions are prejudicial to the overall interest of the party at the wards, local government and state levels.”

Citing Article 21(1)(lll)(V)(Vll) of the party’s constitution, the action of the embattled chairman towards the party and its members, they said, is entirely” contrary to the party’s constitution.”

Wondering why the chairman had failed to adhere strictly to the party’s laid down rules, they went ahead to accuse him of “handpicking without adherence to the provisions of the party constitution when summoning for a meeting.”

Piqued by such acts, they noted that “this biases and dictatorial tendencies of Bashir Bakari has created discord particularly among the youths who are known to be foot soldiers of the party and constitute the largest age group in the party.”

More to that, his actions, as held by them “has made some prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to openly state that they have already pocketed APC chairman of Jalingo local government council.”

Vowing to reverse their actions, the chairman, as stated in their letter “is exhibiting disloyalty, insubordination to some of the party’s stakeholders which is gross misconduct to the party and violates party constitution.”

In a swift reaction, the embattled chairman said the suspension would not hold water “because all the due process were not followed.”

Alleging that the purported suspension was sponsored by some persons who according to him does not have the party at heart, he urged the party’s faithful to disregard the purported suspension which he believed would not see the light of the day.

The  commissioner for information and communications in Rivers, Chris Finebone has revealed that  the state has uncovered a plot to blackmail Nyesom Wike, governor of the state.

A statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, special assistant to Wike on media, revealed that  Finebone spoke at a media briefing on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers.

Fineboy explained that the “faceless group” is orchestrating a campaign of calumny against Wike because they are vexed over his role in leading the G5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “fairness, equity and justice” in the party.

“This is the evidence of the plot to blackmail governor Wike. This is the document and it is titled: ‘Proposal with hashtag, to end Wike rascality programme’,” he said.

The commissioner said the plan to blackmail Wike is “totally unexpected” by the Rivers government.

“We encouraged them to remove their mask and show themselves as the governor and the government is equal to the task of responding to them adequately,” he said.

“They can’t even sign it (the document) to push for this. It is important we warn them. It is important we also warn Nigerians about this scheme. We expect more of them to come. But I can assure you that the governor and the G-5 would rise to the occasion as they continue to start this type of campaign of calumny.”

A few months to the general elections, a federal High Court sitting in Abuja has nullified the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State.

The PDP, in its first primary election conducted in May 28th and 29th 2022, elected Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as its gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State.

The party also held another primary election on the 4th and 5th of June 2022, which produced Obinna Ogba as its factional governorship candidate.

Both Odii and Ogba reportedly fought gallantly in court for the PDP guber ticket in Ebonyi, wherein the Supreme Court later ruled in favour of Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii.

But now, Justice Binta Nyako has allegedly nullified all the primary elections of the PDP conducted under Silas Onu.

Justice, Nyako, however, gave fourteen days (14 days) for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to conduct a fresh primary election.
