Arise Rejects Ekiti North APC Primary Outcome, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Manipulation and Irregularities
Former Senator Ayo Arise has strongly rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Ekiti North Senatorial District, alleging widespread manipulation, irregularities, and intimidation during the exercise.
Addressing journalists in Oye-Ekiti, Senator Arise expressed deep dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primary, insisting that he emerged as the rightful winner based on results obtained at the grassroots level. He maintained that credible records exist and that delegates who participated in the election are fully aware of the true outcome.
According to him, the process fell far short of the guidelines and democratic standards set by the APC, noting that what transpired did not in any way reflect the genuine will and choice of party delegates. He alleged that several irregularities were recorded across multiple polling units, including interference with voting procedures and undue influence on delegates, which he said ultimately compromised the integrity of the election.
Senator Arise further revealed that results collated at the ward level clearly indicated that he secured the highest number of votes. However, he claimed that the situation changed during the final collation process, where figures were allegedly altered to produce a different outcome in favor of another aspirant.
Describing the development as a serious threat to internal democracy within the party, the former lawmaker called on the leadership of the APC at both the state and national levels to urgently intervene. He also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that a thorough and transparent investigation is carried out, with a view to upholding justice and restoring confidence in the party’s electoral processes.
Arise warned that ignoring such grievances could have far-reaching consequences for the unity, credibility, and electoral strength of the APC, particularly as the party prepares for future elections. He stressed that fairness, transparency, and respect for due process must remain the foundation of the party’s internal operations.
While reaffirming his commitment to the APC, Senator Arise disclosed that he would explore all available internal mechanisms within the party to seek redress and ensure that justice is served. He urged his supporters across Ekiti North to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast, emphasizing the need to avoid any action that could lead to violence or disrupt the peace and unity of the party.
He concluded by reiterating his faith in democratic principles and expressed hope that the truth would ultimately prevail, assuring his supporters that their mandate would not be surrendered without a legitimate and lawful challenge.
