Budget 2026: 11 Nigerian Ministries to Receive Over N1 Trillion Each
No fewer than 11 ministries, departments, and agencies are set to receive over N1 trillion each in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, highlighting the government’s continued focus on security, infrastructure, and governance.
The figure marks an increase from 2025, when 10 MDAs crossed the trillion-naira threshold. The Ministry of Finance leads with N16.78 trillion, followed by Budget and Economic Planning at N9.1 trillion, and Defence at N3.15 trillion.
Notably, the Ministry of Works saw a significant rise, allocated N3.49 trillion—a more than 200% increase from the previous year—reflecting a renewed emphasis on road infrastructure.
In contrast, some sectors faced reductions. The Ministry of Power’s allocation dropped by 47% to N1.1 trillion, while Education saw a slight decrease. However, Health and Agriculture received increased funding, with the latter allocated N1.45 trillion to support food security initiatives.
The budget was presented by President Bola Tinubu amid ongoing fiscal reforms and economic challenges, with lawmakers set to review the proposals in the coming weeks.
