Business Leaders Call for Stable Power to Boost Manufacturing and Economic Growth

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has emphasized the urgent need for more affordable and reliable electricity to support the nation’s manufacturing sector.

The association’s President, Mr. Jami Ibrahim, issued the call during a strategic meeting with energy firm DMCA Energy in Lagos on Tuesday. He identified unreliable power as a primary obstacle to business productivity and national competitiveness.

Ibrahim linked stable electricity to broader economic ambitions, stating that the private sector is vital to achieving President Bola Tinubu’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy. He described the target as “ambitious but achievable,” stressing that it would require a concerted effort from all stakeholders.

“We must work together to unlock the potential within the organised private sector,” Ibrahim said, highlighting energy solutions as a cornerstone for sustainable development.

NACCIMA’s Director-General, Mr. Olusola Obadimu, reinforced the association’s focus on fostering business growth, noting that a stronger economy hinges on creating an enabling environment for enterprises.

In response, the Chief Executive Officer of DMCA Energy, Mr. Amabi Christopher, outlined his company’s role in providing power solutions designed to spur economic activity while adhering to sustainable practices. He noted that reliable electricity is particularly crucial for the efficiency and expansion of small and medium-scale enterprises.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of collaboration between the private sector and energy providers to ensure accessible and dependable power for manufacturers and businesses nationwide.
