Deputy Senate President to Distribute 53,040 Fertiliser Bags to Kano Farmers
The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has finalized plans to distribute 53,040 bags of fertiliser to farmers and other residents across the 13 local government areas of Kano North Senatorial District ahead of the 2026 farming season.
The intervention, comprising 88 trucks of fertiliser, is scheduled to begin on May 31, 2026. The annual distribution is part of efforts to support farmers, boost agricultural output, and enhance national food security.
Beneficiaries include farmers, party stakeholders, elected local government chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, and secretaries. Others listed to receive the fertiliser are APC caucus members, imams, village heads, ward heads, headmasters, principals, security personnel, and social media influencers.
According to the senator, timely access to farming inputs is critical to improving crop yields and ensuring food sufficiency. The initiative is also intended to complement the federal government’s push for national food security.
Beneficiaries have been urged to make proper use of the fertiliser to maximise agricultural output during the farming season. The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to programmes that improve livelihoods across the Kano North Senatorial District.
