The vehicle, which had an unknown registration number, was travelling from Kano to Roni town in Jigawa State when it crashed into the dam. A total of 10 persons were involved in the accident.

Two of the deceased have been identified as Shamsiya Miko, aged approximately 35 years, and Fatima Danlami, aged about 40 years. The identities of the remaining two victims had not been confirmed as of the time of this report.
All the victims were evacuated to Danbatta General Hospital for medical attention and necessary procedures.
Preliminary investigations by the fire service indicated that a burst tyre was the cause of the accident.
