French woman blames UK prison authorities for releasing Nigerian partner who allegedly abducted their son
A French woman has criticised United Kingdom prison authorities for the release of her Nigerian partner, who is accused of abducting their five-year-old son.
Claire N’Djosse said she felt betrayed after Ifedayo Adeyeye, a 58-year-old British-Nigerian, was let out of HMP Pentonville in London on April 21, 2026. According to a Daily Mail report, N’Djosse has not seen her son, Laurys, since he was allegedly taken from France by his father in July 2024.
She believes Laurys was moved to Nigeria through the UK. She had approached the High Court in London seeking the return of her child, and Adeyeye was later sentenced to 18 months for contempt of court. However, the court recently stated that Adeyeye was released by mistake and may have travelled to Spain within three days before prison officials alerted the police.
Police continue to search for Adeyeye, while the Ministry of Justice acknowledged the distress caused by the error. Speaking through a reporter, N’Djosse said her life had stopped since the abduction and that Adeyeye’s imprisonment had given her hope, now shattered by his release. She added that she has lost hope of seeing her child again.
