Man Fatally Stabbed During Dispute in Ogun as Suspect Goes on the Run

A man identified simply as Dada has lost his life after a violent altercation with a colleague in the Akute area of Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, reportedly caused panic among residents and business owners, many of whom hurriedly shut down their shops and left the area following the attack.

According to accounts from the community, the confrontation began as an argument between the two men before it escalated into violence. Witnesses said both individuals were involved in the clash, with one allegedly sustaining an injury before leaving the scene.

Residents claimed the suspect later returned armed and attacked Dada, inflicting severe injuries. Efforts were made to save the victim as bystanders rushed him for medical treatment, but he reportedly died before reaching the hospital.

The suspect fled immediately after the incident and has remained at large.

Community members described the area where the attack occurred as a known gathering spot for suspected hoodlums and criminal elements. Residents also expressed concern over recurring security challenges in the neighbourhood, including theft and other violent incidents.

Security sources disclosed that law enforcement officers have intensified efforts to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect. Authorities are also continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that operatives have launched a manhunt to ensure the suspect is apprehended and brought to justice.

The latest killing has renewed concerns among residents over safety in the area, particularly as it comes months after another fatal stabbing incident that sparked protests and calls for stronger security measures.
