Director General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Tuesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari in New York.
The WTO boss was one of the first set of personalities the President attended to ahead of his engagement at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.
Though, details of the talks between the WTO boss and the Nigerian President were not made available as at press time, it was gathered that the duo spoke on the UNGA and some economic issues bordering on Nigeria.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala born 13 June 1954 is a Nigerian-American economist, fair trade leader, environmental sustainability advocate, human welfare champion, sustainable finance maven and global development expert. Since March 2021, Okonjo-Iweala has been serving as Director-General of the WTO: World Trade Organization. Notably, she is the first woman and first African to lead The World Trade Organization as Director-General.
Muhammadu Buhari GCFR (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician who has been president of Nigeria since 2015. Buhari is a retired Nigerian Army Major General and has served as military head of state in Nigeria between 1983 to 1985, after taking power in a military coup d’état.
