Operation HADIN KAI: NAF Destroys Fortified Terrorist Camps in North-East

The Nigerian Air Force has stepped up its air campaign against insurgents in the North-East, delivering a series of airstrikes on terrorist strongholds in the Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns region.

The operations, conducted under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted key insurgent enclaves, logistics hubs, and defensive positions. Intelligence-led strikes have systematically dismantled terrorist networks across both areas.

On April 30, air assets carried out a high-impact interdiction mission at Alafa in the Sambisa axis, destroying confirmed terrorist infrastructure and supply nodes in successive attacks.

The following day, May 1, another strike was launched on Metele in the Tumbuns. Surveillance had revealed a fortified island stronghold occupied by entrenched fighters, complete with storage facilities and defensive trench systems. Nigerian Air Force aircraft delivered overwhelming firepower, decimating the location and neutralising scores of insurgents.

The sustained tempo of operations reflects a deliberate strategy of continuous pressure, denying terrorists any opportunity to regroup or operate freely.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the service’s resolve to dominate the battlespace, vowing that operations will persist with increased intensity until all terrorist capabilities are eliminated and threats to national security are fully neutralised.

The latest strikes come after a coordinated air operation on April 27, which targeted terrorist positions in Guduf, located in the Mandara Mountains along Nigeria’s north-eastern border with Cameroon.
