Osun Accord Party Secretariat Attacked, Party Blames APC

Gunmen suspected to be political thugs attacked the state headquarters of the Accord Party in Osogbo, Osun State, damaging property including the entrance gate and walls of the building.

The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, left bullet holes on walls and shattered glass at the secretariat located along the Osogbo/Gbongan road.

Speaking on Monday, the deputy spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Oladele Bamiji, accused the All Progressives Congress of orchestrating the attack. He alleged that the APC had previously destroyed campaign billboards belonging to the Accord Party across the state.

Bamiji stated that security operatives stationed at the secretariat reported that the attackers fired sporadically at the building. He called on the Inspector General of Police to conduct a forensic investigation, noting that police operatives had already visited the scene and recovered bullet specimens.

In response, a member of the APC governorship campaign media committee, Kehinde Ayantunji, dismissed the allegations, describing them as a fabricated attempt to blackmail the opposition party. He urged the police to invite the Accord Party leadership to provide specific names of suspected attackers rather than making general accusations.

Ayantunji maintained that the APC does not encourage violence and has focused on peaceful engagement with voters across the state over the past year.
