Pipeline Infrastructure Firm Settles Backlog of Community Scholarship and Empowerment Grants
Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has cleared all outstanding scholarship grants and empowerment benefits owed to beneficiaries within its host communities. The company announced the payments during a stakeholders’ engagement forum held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, underscoring its focus on supporting youth and women throughout the Niger Delta region.
Dr. Akpos Mezeh, PINL’s General Manager of Community and Stakeholders Relations, confirmed during the session that the infrastructure firm has fulfilled the financial commitments pledged during its previous assembly in mid-May. The interventions include the distribution of women’s empowerment grants alongside the resolution of student educational funding.
Mezeh stated that the disbursements are part of a broader corporate framework intended to reduce poverty, encourage economic self-reliance, and alleviate financial pressures on households hosting vital oil and gas infrastructure. Moving forward, the company plans to introduce structured mentorship, vocational training, and entrepreneurship initiatives to ensure the long-term sustainability of its community programs.
Community leaders, traditional rulers, and youth representatives at the forum credited the infrastructure company’s localized investments with reducing social friction, managing community tensions, and discouraging pipeline vandalism near critical energy assets.
