Portable Loses Boxing Match, Welcomes Baby Boy Hours Later
Afrobeats singer Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has announced the birth of a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, just hours after losing a celebrity boxing match to skit maker Carter Efe.
The bout, tagged “Chaos in the Ring 4,” took place at Balmoral Hall in Lagos on Saturday, where Portable lost via unanimous decision. Shortly after the defeat, the singer took to social media to share the news of his son’s arrival.
Reacting to the twin developments, Portable said he valued the birth of his child far more than any boxing title, adding that no amount of money could buy a child. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the fight’s outcome, alleging that the result was unfair.
The singer further claimed that even a sum of N23 billion could not compensate for what truly mattered to him. He noted that while he had hoped to celebrate with a belt, he ended up celebrating the arrival of his newborn instead.
His wife, Omobewaji, confirmed the birth with a simple expression of gratitude and also indicated that the baby has been named Jamal Iremide. She described the child as her little blessing.
Portable revealed that the birth occurred while he was in the ring, saying that his wife went into labour as he fought. He added that he already has two belts but now has a new son to add to his growing family.
The singer, known for his controversial lifestyle, has multiple children from previous relationships and has previously spoken about his intention to marry more wives.
