President Tinubu Makes Fresh Appointment, Seeks Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Zainab Marwa for confirmation by the Senate as a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Governing Board.

Marwa has been chosen to represent the North-East zone on the NDDC board.

The Senate President read the President’s request in a letter during the plenary session.

Tinubu stated in the letter that the nomination is in accordance with the NDDC Establishment Act.

This appointment is intended to fill the vacancy left by Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas’s resignation from the board.

Namdas left the NDDC board on March 30, 2026, to run for governor in Adamawa State.

In his letter to the Senate, Tinubu said he was confident that the Senate would quickly consider Marwa’s nomination.

The President said, confirming that Marwa would help the board continue working without interruption.

After the letter was read, the Senate sent Marwa’s nomination to its Committee on NDDC for screening and more legislative steps.

The committee will review her credentials and then report back to the chamber for a final decision.

If she is confirmed, Marwa will join the NDDC Governing Board as the representative for the North-East zone.

The NDDC board oversees the commission’s work to drive development in the Niger Delta region through infrastructure, intervention projects, and other programs.
