Soludo Tasks Women on Mobilisation for Tinubu’s Second Term
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called on women coordinators of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts in mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid.
Speaking during an interaction with the group’s women leaders at the Light House in Awka on Monday, Soludo stressed that Ndigbo must avoid wasting their votes in future elections, adding that women and youths hold the key to driving meaningful development in the state and the country at large.
The governor pointed out that Tinubu won the previous election without significant backing from the South-East, and urged the women to strategise effectively to ensure a successful second term for the President.
“The future of generations to come is currently at stake. The movement must operate with a clear understanding of its role in coordinating for Anambra State,” Soludo said.
“My desire is for Ndigbo to avoid wasting their votes in future electoral cycles. The movement must begin to play politics with their heads. In politics, individuals do not receive what they deserve, but rather what they bargain for. In a democracy, the primary currency for that bargain is the vote.”
He asked the coordinators to reflect on their bargaining power and called on them to mobilise resources and adopt sound strategies.
Soludo pledged his full support to the group, affirming that they have a significant role to play and that he would back their initiatives to the best of his ability.
Earlier, the Women Coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Anambra, Mrs Adaora Soludo, said the group’s primary objective is to actively promote and support the Tinubu-led administration. She noted that the movement is positioned to serve as a bridge between the government and the people, ensuring that development policies are understood at the grassroots level.
The event was also attended by the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, and the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Amaka Obi, among others.
