VIDEO – PFN Urges Federal Government to Tackle Insecurity After Three-Day National Fast

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has urged the Federal Government to take immediate action against worsening insecurity and attacks on Christian communities, following a three-day nationwide fasting and prayer programme.

The spiritual exercise, held from May 22 to 24 to coincide with Global Pentecost Day, culminated in a street rally by the PFN Lagos chapter. Participants marched with placards bearing messages such as “Save Nigeria from Terror” and “Peace and Security Now.”

Addressing the gathering, a PFN official, Yemi Davies, who spoke on behalf of National President Bishop Francis Oke, said the country had reached an unbearable level of banditry, kidnapping, and savage killings. He stressed that while the church had prayed intensely, it was now time for concrete government intervention.

The call comes amid renewed outrage over the abduction of more than 40 pupils and several teachers from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15. The Christian body said several parts of the country had become killing fields and urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritise the protection of lives and property.

Social media reactions to the rally were mixed. Some users questioned the absence of prominent PFN leaders, while others simply expressed prayers for the nation.

The PFN has repeatedly raised alarms over insecurity, seeking both divine intervention and practical solutions from the government.
