Wike Praises Tinubu Over Long-Awaited Bodo-Bonny Road Completion
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for completing the Bodo-Bonny road project in Rivers State.
Speaking during a visit to Bonny LGA, Wike described the 37.9km road as a “political project” that successive administrations had promised but failed to deliver. He stated that the Tinubu administration accomplished it “without prompting, without pressure.”
Wike highlighted how difficult accessing Bonny Island used to be, especially during political campaigns, noting that the road now provides a safe alternative to risky boat trips or expensive helicopter travel.
The road was temporarily opened by President Tinubu in December 2025, with restrictions on night travel and heavy vehicles until its final completion, expected in early 2026. Tinubu has called the project a flagship achievement of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
