FRSC Deploys 555 Personnel for Eid Special Patrol in Osun
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun State Sector Command, has deployed 555 personnel for a special patrol operation ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The week-long exercise is scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31 across the state. The operation aims to prevent road accidents and ensure the free flow of traffic during the festive period.
Osun Sector Commander Sunday Adebayo stated that the corps would deploy three ambulances, two roadside clinics, one tow truck, and 15 patrol vehicles for the exercise. The operation will be carried out in collaboration with other security agencies.
Motorists have been urged to strictly adhere to road safety guidelines and avoid speeding, wrongful overtaking, and overloading to avoid sanctions.
Meanwhile, transport fares have continued to rise due to the recent increase in the price of petrol, a development many road users have decried as the Sallah festival approaches.
A commercial driver in Osogbo explained that the cost of transportation could not remain stable following the fuel price hike. He advised travellers to plan their journeys carefully to avoid being financially stranded during the festive period.
A traveller travelling from Ilorin to Osogbo reported paying N2,500 and expected to pay an additional N3,000 to N3,500 to continue to Ibadan. She decried the rising cost of food items and other goods, urging transporters to be considerate with fares. She also called on the government to regulate the price of petrol to make it more affordable for motorists.
