Ogun Police Thwart Abduction Attempt on Chinese Expatriate
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have prevented a plot to kidnap a Chinese national, arresting two suspects who allegedly demanded a ₦50 million ransom.
The suspects, Chinedu Onwuemena (41) and Jimoh Ojo (37), were arrested on June 9, 2026, along the Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Expressway following intelligence reports of an imminent abduction.
Police teams from the Obalende Division were deployed to the area, leading to the interception of the suspects before the crime could be carried out.
Investigations revealed that Onwuemena worked as an interpreter and driver within the victim’s company and allegedly used his position to facilitate the plot. A third accomplice remains at large.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift action and urged residents to remain vigilant.
